Traveling by car
Coming from the north, it is best to take the Slovenian-Austrian border at the level of the Karawanken Tunnel. Follow the highway via Ljubljana towards Postojna/Koper.
From there you can continue your journey via Buzet or along the coast (Koper and Buje). If you are coming from Italy, it is best to travel via Trieste and from there to Koper or Buzet.

Travel by plane
The nearest airports are Trieste (Italy) or Pula  (Istria) or Rijeka. From there you can drive to Oprtalj in less than 1-1.5 hours.
We advise you to rent a car at the airport. You will not get very far in Istria by public transport.
